ICSI Treatment Hyderabad

How Does ICSI Differ to IVF? When is ICSI Used?

ICSI is similar to IVF as eggs and sperm cell is collected from every partner or donor. On the day of egg collection, an embryologist inseminates the eggs and therefore the following day selects out people who are fertilized. They are kept and monitored in an apparatus for up to 5 days and therefore the best embryos are transferred into female’s uterus to implant.

ICSI differs from IVF as every egg is separately injected with one sperm cell, bypassing the stage wherever the sperm cell has got to naturally penetrate the egg.

ICSI treatment

ICSI is used if the sperm is unlikely to fertilize an egg naturally. This could be when:
  • sperm count is extremely low
  • sperm can’t move properly
  • sperm incorporates a high rate of abnormality
  • sperm is retrieved directly from the epididymis (PESA) or the testicles (TESA), from the excrement, or by electro-ejaculation
  • There are high levels of antibodies within the ejaculate
  • Previous IVF treatment has resulted in failing fertilisation
  • sperm has been frozen
